Seminars

The last couple of days at work, we've been treated to company sponsored seminars. Tuesday was about improving communication. Yesterday we had a management training session that lasted all day. While there was a bit of valuable information provided, the majority consisted of common sense, rehashed ideas, irrelevant examples and constant repetition. After a good solid waste of a day, our speaker ended the session with a poem about being a good manager and successful at your job. I'm not sure if it qualifies as Vogon Poetry, since the speaker appeared to be human, but given the thrashing and wailing that it elicited from the audience, the effect was much the same. While I don't precisely recall hearing phrases such as "Oh freddled gruntbuggly, Thy micturations are to me As plurdled gabbleblotchits On a lurgid bee." but they must have been there, inaudible behind the savage howling of we tormented listeners.

Ah, motivational speakers. Where would we be without you. Possibly in much the same place as would be were we to lose our hairdressers and telephone sanitizers.

I'm going to have a bath and a jynnan tonnyx now.
